Umbagog 2022 (Part 1)

Welp, here we go again. Up to lake Umbagog, to remote site 23 (map). On the ‘mainland’ rather than island site 14 where we often go. 23 is probably the biggest camping site on the lake and you might be able to sprinkle 10 tents there with room to spare.

Currently the house is disaster, with piles of dehydrated food filling the livingroom floor, packs and equipment strewn about, the pump on the worlds greatest backpacking stove, the MSR DragonFly, sprung a leak during testing that cant be fixed so we overnighted a replacement pump and a backup stove since I went into a bit of a panic. Its surprising to think that some of this gear is anywhere from 10 to 30 years old. Reviewing menus, the canoe, tents, water filters, bear bags, ropes, fishing gear, cookware, sleeping bags & therm-a-rest mattresses, tarps, lighting and all the little fiddly other bits. Oh yeah, playing cards, toilet paper and bug spray.

We were last on this site 11 years ago in 2011. I think we spent 4 days in a cabin and then decided it was time to try a ‘wilderness site’ for a couple days with the girls. Its also the year we got our last camera, the Canon 60D. Looking, I see we have taken 10,619 images with it over 11 years - though admittedly hardly any recently. We will try and get a few.
